Last week, a neuroscience professor from University of Oregon told us about scientific proof that alternative treatments like Reiki really work. So today we brought in local Reiki Master, Deborah Romero, to show us what happens in a live Reiki session.
There are three levels someone can obtain in Reiki: Level 1 is for self-treatments, level 2 you can treat others, Level three (Master Level) you can treat and attune (teach) others for the 1 and 2 levels. Deborah has been a Reiki Master for 11 years. She has been able to feel energy in things since she was a child, but didn't know it was Reiki back then.
Reiki is an energy-based technique that promotes your own body's self-healing. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "spiritually guided life force energy."
When we have emotional or physical trauma that energy stays in our cells. Reiki helps the body release the trauma in a gentle, subtle way.
People seek out Reiki for many different reasons, all very personal. Most people use Reiki as a modality to reduce stress, emotional healing, and physical healing.
Deborah had a client who came in after being very frustrated about not being able to find any help for an irritated bladder. She felt relief after her first session and after 7 sessions it was completely healed.
Another client came in because she was having severe panic attacks and anxiety. She immediately felt relaxed after her first session. She continued to come for Reiki and now, after two years, she comes in only every three months. Beset of all, she has no more anxiety or panic attacks.
You may feel tingling, warmth, a sense of peace and over-all wellness. You may feel the overwhelming urge to cry or laugh. It a safe sacred time for your mind, body, and spirit to feel as one.
