One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, second only to skin cancers.
In 2017 alone, the American Cancer Society estimates nearly 253-thousand cases of invasive breast cancer and 63-thousand cases of non-invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed. Nearly 41-thousand women will die of the disease this year.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Anupama Acheson, MD, an oncologist with Providence Cancer Center joined us to share the latest on guidelines and research.
