Crock Pot Kalua Pork
- 1 large banana leaf
- 3 pounds pork shoulder
- 2 TBSP liquid smoke
- Hawaiian salt (or coarse kosher salt)
Rub all sides of the pork with liquid smoke; discard what is not used.
Sprinkle all sides of the pork with salt and lightly rub.
Line the bowl of the crock pot with the banana leaf. Place the pork into the crock pot then fold the leaf over the top of the pork. (Use additional banana leaf pieces if necessary.) Do not add any liquid to the crock pot!
Set the crockpot on high and cook for 8-9 hours.
Remove the banana leaf and pork from the crock pot, and pour any liquid into a fat separator. Pour the juices back into the crock pot; discard the fat. Return the meat back to the crock pot and separate with a fork. Serve.
