10 Ways to Say "I Love You!"

Romance Novelist Delilah Marvelle, Forever and a Day, shared ten ways to say "I love you."

1.) Have a "hold hands" day. That means, make a date to hold hands. Throughout the entire date, whether you are eating or not, take the challenge of holding each other's hand. It creates laughter, some awkward moments and above all, forces you to pay attention to each other. And yes, your hands will get sweaty! That's the idea.
2.) Add a little flattery when the other person least expects it. We never flatter our loved ones often enough. Sneak in those compliments. And we're not talking appearance compliments. Focus on letting them know what you appreciate most about them.
3.) Give hugs. Bear hugs. They're memorable and they quite literally take the breath out of you. And when you let go, you can still feel it. At the end of my first date with my husband, he gave me this huge bear hug. And I never forgot it. I still ask for them.
4.) Write a love letter without saying the words I love you. It makes you dig deeper and pull out the things you usually don't say. The words 'I love you' are special, but in relationships it gets tossed around and after a while, it's just words. So move beyond the words and surprise your special someone by taking the time to say MORE than I love you.
5.) Make them a gift. It's so easy to go to the store and buy something. But how is it special to buy something that person could have very well bought for themselves? Make the gift your own. Make it special. No one knows the person you're giving it to better than you do. Take the time to create a gift you know they'd appreciate.
6.) Share memories. This one gets overlooked by couples all the time. You share so many memories, why not make use of them and rekindle what you shared? Pull out those photo albums and videos you haven't seen in ages. My husband and I astonish ourselves with how much we've forgotten. It puts a smile on his face and mine.
7.) Lay out a blanket in the yard at night and watch the stars and the sky together. It sounds cheesy and right out of a romance movie or book, but the whole idea is to be together and to have nothing but nature and each other. You'll find you'll talk more and touch more.
8.) Write 'I love you' in unusual ways and leave them in random places. Write it with rose petals. Write it in lipstick. Write it with ketchup, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that it's eye catching and that your loved one sees you put a moment of your time to think about them.
9.) Give your loved one the gift of time. There are little things you can do to make life easier for them. Surprise them by putting toothpaste on their toothbrush for them and lay out a towel, so when they come into the bathroom, it's one less thing they have to do. You can help give them an extra five minutes by letting them know you're thinking of them.
10.) Take a pen and think of something special to write on their wrist or arm. It washes off, but guess what? They'll be carrying what you wrote for at least a day. It will put a smile on their face every time they see it. The whole idea is just to let them know that you adore them. Words are special. Find ways to make them special by using them in special ways.
