Every day, 80 people are diagnosed with diabetes. Many of them are children with Type 1 diabetes. But you can join the fight to help find a cure by participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. KATU Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby, emcee of the Walk, along with Walk Chair Chris Meier and Walk Ambassadors Abigail Hoppe, Eli Webber, Henry Kilman and Charlotte Hand all joined us. They shared what having T1D means and why we all need to take part in the Walk.

In addition to being a Walk Ambassador, 15 year old Abigail Hoppe is also the 2014 Miss Junior National Teenager. To find out more about this scholarship organization and what Abby is doing during her year as the title holder, click here.
