It's among a parents' worst nightmare, their child getting hit by a car while walking to school or playing outside. Pediatrician Dr. George Bengtson had advice for helping keep your kids safe this summer.

Supervision: walk with kids if possible or put them in a group that walks together.
Be attentive to drop-off zones.
Teach chidlren to be attentive.
Don't create high risk situations (e.g. basketball goals in street)
Park cars off the street when possible.
If you feel your neighborhood is high risk for kids and accidents talk with your local city government about what can be done.
