Row for the Cure

Row for the Cure invites you to come and cheer on the paddlers! This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual event which raises funds for Susan G. Komen Foundation.

      • "Row for the Cure"

      • Sunday, September 29, 8:30am to Noon

      • Eastbank Esplanade By Hawthorne Bridge, Downtown Portland

Founder, Kathy Frederick and the membership of Station L Rowing Club set the stage 19 years ago with a small parade of boats. The event was inspired by Kathy's sudden loss of a colleague to cancer and her dedication to rowing. What started as a parade of boats rowing alongside the runners at the Komen Race for the Cure in 1993 has blossomed into a national series of fundraisers in 30 cities in the United States and in Europe.

Today one in eight US women are diagnosed with breast cancer and the rowing community has been touched personally. Row for the Cure makes it possible for rowers of all ages to step up to make a difference.
