The Oregon Orchid Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of native orchids, as well as cultivation and appreciation of the 30,000 varieties that exist worldwide. Sue Volek, President of the Oregon Orchid Society, has found that the group gets asked the same few questions over and over because people don't know how to take care of their orchids. Thus, many of the beautiful plants sold to the general population go to waste, and people think just because they look exotic, that all orchids are difficult to grow. Not so! Sue shared some simple steps to keep your orchid alive and happy.
The 67th Annual Orchid Sale and Show is April 26-27 at the Ambridge Event Center in NE Portland. This year's theme is "Orchidlandia," and will feature lots of exotic blooms along with care and potting demonstrations, and plant sales. It's the largest orchid show in the Pacific Northwest.
