The YEAH program was founded in 2006 by the Junior Livestock Auction at the Clark County Fair. Through youth involvement the program provides assistance to the Clark County Food Bank in alleviating hunger by providing high quality food to Clark County individuals and families in need. 4-H and FFA youth raise market animals throughout the year to be auctioned off on at the Junior Livestock Auction. Buyers have the option to keep the meat or turn the animal back at a support price. YEAH's goal is to buy all of the meat that has been turned back and donate it to the Clark County Food Bank. In 2013, YEAH purchased and donated 5,904 pounds of quality locally raised packaged meat, which is valued at over $50,000 to the food bank. YEAH also collects canned goods for the food bank at various events throughout the year. In 2013, YEAH provided 1,803 pounds of donated food items to the Clark County Food Bank. According to the food bank, the meat alone provides approximately 3,500 meals or a 5-week supply. YEAH is hoping to have an even bigger impact in 2014 while teaching the youth the importance of giving back to their community.
