Oregon leads the nation in farm to school programs. Nearly $1 out of every $4 schools spend on food is spent on Oregon products. But best of all, every Oregon school district can receive extra funds to buy and serve local foods thanks to the Oregon legislature. It's all part of Oregon's Farm to School program that offers funds to all districts that participate in the federal school lunch program, not just the "winners" of competitive grants. Rep. Tina Kotek, Oregon Speaker of the House, joined us along with NW Honda Dealers President Richard Lennard, to share why this program is so important to the health of our school children.
