Car wreck into transmission pole causes Vancouver power outage

VANCOUVER, Wash. - A car that smashed into a transmission line in central Vancouver Monday afternoon caused a major power outage to Clark Public Utilities customers.

The car hit the power line at Northeast 122nd Avenue and 9th Street.

The affected area was in the Cascade Park/Orchards area.

Initially, about 16,000 customers lost power at about 3:30 p.m. Just before 4 p.m. the power had been restored to most customers and only about 1,450 still remained without power. By 4:10 p.m., only 50 customers remained without power.

Those customers are in the Ellsworth neighborhood near the area of the crash.

No details were immediately known about the car wreck.
