Fire department says dust likely ignited to cause fire at Camas paper mill
Firefighters from Camas, Washougal and Vancouver responded to a two-alarm fire this morning at the Georgia Pacific paper mill in downtown Camas.
Fire was reported about 9 a.m. this morning. Crews say the fire appeared to start in the ceiling above one of the paper machines, likely from dust that somehow ignited. Fire crews cut through the roof to get access to the fire and put it out. No one was hurt.
The fire appeared to be in the same general area as a similar fire in August.
The Georgia Pacific plant employees about 600 people making paper for printing and copying as well as paper towels.
