Firefighters prevent garage fire from spreading to homes

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Fire investigators in Beaverton are working to find out what caused a detached garage to catch fire Tuesday morning.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue was called out to the fire at 7:23 a.m. Firefighters saw flames coming through the roof of the garage at 8295 SW 135th Avenue. The fire happened about a half-mile away from the fire station.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to two other homes. The garage's roof collapsed and the rear wall almost collapsed.

No firefighters were hurt. No one was in the garage when the fire started.

The garage was next to home that is under renovation. The garage was being used as a workshop to house all of the equipment for the home renovation. Firefighters say the garage and all of its contents were worth $97,000.
