Oregon sues Lake Oswego apartment complex over tenant's death

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. -- A lawsuit claims a Lake Oswego man died because his apartment complex did not give him a disabled parking space.

The Oregon Department of Justice filed suit against the California company that owns One Jefferson Parkway Apartments on behalf of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. BOLI accuses the complex of violating fair housing laws.

According to the complaint, James Calogridis had asked for a spot closer to his unit. He needed an oxygen tank and fell while walking from his car. He needed a walker after the fall.

A month later, he was found dead in his bathroom. He was tangled up in the walker.

The complaint claims none of the injuries or death would have happened if Calogridis had a closer parking space.
