PGE says power for downtown Portland expected back on by morning

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Because of a power outage in downtown Portland, City Hall and the Portland Building remain closed Tuesday for a second day.

Portland General Electric said it expects to restore service to eight blocks of downtown by Wednesday morning.

Other city buildings are open and functioning as normal. The outage covers an eight-block area and includes office buildings.

The outage was caused by a fire early Sunday that damaged underground cables.
