Police seize 7 pounds of meth during traffic stop
BEAVERTON, Ore. - Police officers seized seven pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop along Highway 26 on Saturday.
Officers stopped the car along Highway 26 at Cornelius Pass Road around 3 p.m., according to Beaverton Police spokesman Mike Rowe.
Rowe said during the stop an officer became suspicious and determined there was probable cause to search the car.
A drug-sniffing dog joined the search and found meth inside the vehicle, Rowe said. All told, officers found seven pounds of the drug hidden throughout the car.
The driver, 30-year-old Jose Ortiz-Ledezma, was arrested on charges of possessing, distributing and manufacturing a controlled substance. He is a Mexican national, Rowe said.
