PORTLAND, Ore. - A popular sushi restaurant has moved out of Downtown Portland, and several restaurants are looking to move in.
Gaya Gaya Sushi and Bento closed last weekend. The tenants occupied the building on West Burnside for 20 years; it was Gaya Gaya for ten.
Kidder Mathews realty said the building's owner, Nancy Kraemer, decided it was time for a change and didn't renew the lease.
"The owner's just super excited about finding a restaurant who wants to take advantage of the exposure, the visibility and also the traffic that goes to Jeld-Wen," said Sara Daley with Kidder Mathews.
Daley said the restaurants interested in moving to the location are all "casual" eating places.
The owner of Gaya Gaya said he's surprised and sad to go after all this time. He started a new restaurant near his home in Hillsboro called Shogun Sushi.
