Three children are safe after falling through ice in Milwaukie

MILWAUKIE, Ore. - Three children who fell through ice Monday at a park near Southeast 37th and Railroad Avenue were able to get out on their own.

Five teens were playing near or on the ice when three of them fell in. Everyone is accounted for and safe.

Dozens of emergency vehicles and crews from nearby agencies responded to and began searching the Minthorn North Natural Area after they received a tip that someone was heard calling for help.

Divers searched the water in the area that is partially frozen over. Other searchers scoured the shoreline, and an infrared camera was also used.
