Truck bursts into flames next to Longview nursing home
LONGVIEW, Wash. - Firefighters extinguished a truck fire next to a Longview nursing home early Monday morning.
The truck's driver called 911 just after 5 a.m. and said his truck was on fire. The truck was parked next to the Frontier Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center in Longview, according to Long Fire spokesman Troy Buzalsky.
Police officers were first to arrive at the scene. Officers told employees of the nursing home to move residents to a safe area. The truck was burning about 10 feet from the building, Buzalsky said.
The dairy truck's refrigeration unit and driver's side tire exploded as the truck burned.
Firefighters put the fire out in about 20 minutes. No one was hurt.
It's unclear what caused the fire. Firefighters said they noticed a commercial gas meter and a propane tank behind the truck.
There were about 115 patients and staff inside the nursing home during the fire, Buzalsky said.
