Go Green: Friends of Trees -Tree Inspections

Friends of Trees is looking for volunteers to serve as Tree Inspectors. Andrew, a member of Friends of Trees, gave us a brief look at what goes into the job.

Friends of Trees planted 3,300 street and yard trees last winter throughout, Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and Oregon City as a part of our Neighborhood Trees Program. Every single one of these trees needs to be inspected for health during its first season in the ground.

Summer Inspector volunteers attend a training in May to learn how to assess the health of young street and yard trees, in addition to giving homeowners watering and mulching tips to increase the survival rate of their trees. Inspectors meet their neighbors, get to know new trees in their area, and teach their community how to better care for trees
