Mental Patient Pulled From Dan River

Danville, VA - A mental patient in Danville was rescued from the Dan River Thursday night, according to police.

The Danville Police Department received a call just before 9 p.m. from a mother that her son was threatening to jump from a bridge. When police got to him, they say he slid off a rock he was sitting on and landed in the Dan River near Union Street Bridge.

We are told that two officers rescued him. He is now being treated at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Officials have not released his name, age or condition.
