50 new Utah laws in effect

New laws

(KUTV) More than 50 new Utah laws went into effect on July 1, including measures requiring students to pass a U.S. citizenship test. Most of the 500 new laws passed by the Legislature earlier this year took effect in May but some were postponed until today because of the start of the state's budget year.

Other new laws today include restrictions on electronic cigarette sales and a measure that raises and restructures Utah's gas tax to pay for road repairs.
