Trump urges Florida governor to run for Senate during Irma disaster tour
FORT MYERS, Fla. (CBS12) —
President Trump urged Gov. Scott, whom he thanked for great leadership during Hurricane Irma, to run for Senate after he landed in Fort Myers to survey damage from Hurricane Irma and the relief response.
"What do I know but I hope this man right here, Rick Scott, runs for the Senate," Trump said Thursday at a hangar in Fort Myers. "I don't know what he's going to do but I know that, at a certain point, it ends for you and we can't let it end. So I hope he runs for Senate."
Gov. Scott has not said publicly whether he'll run for Senate.
