With a few simple tips, you can get that red carpet Oscars look at home!

We called in celebrity makeup artist and hair stylist, M'chel Bauxal-Gleason, to help. She's worked with everyone, from the cast of "Portlandia" to Michelle and Barack Obama.

She watches awards shows closely, saying "those celebrities really set the precedence and set the trend for what's going to happen in the next season."

Here's what trends M'chel sees:

  1. A sleek, classy pony tail
  2. A 1940s wave with your hair pulled back on one side

To get that 1940s wave, M'chel says to first curl your hair in sections, spraying each section first. Then brush it out and tease from the root to give your hair more volume.

As for makeup trends, M'chel sees:

  1. Dark, vampy, plum lips
  2. Bright red lips
  3. Dark, smoky eyes with neutral lips

She says a great look always begins with great skin, so take good care of your skin and find a foundation that matches perfectly.

To get the vampy look, begin with applying foundation and bronzer evenly, then fill in your brows. M'chel says to put a line of concealer around your eyebrows to make them pop and sort of give you a brow lift.

Then choose a dark brown eye shadow for the corner of you eyelids.

"This will give the appearance that your eyes are a little wider set from the bridge of your nose." Add a little bit of the same color in the crease of your bottom lash to open up your eyes," M'chel said.

Nothing says glam like false eyelashes! Use dark glue and apply lash with tweezers right on your lash line. Add dark eyeliner on top.

M'chel suggests you "do a waterproof pencil, you can do a cake liner, a gel liner, and this just ties it in so you really can't tell you're wearing fake lashes."

Then add white eyeliner on the bottom to open your eyes more. Apply black mascara to meld your natural and false lashes together. Then apply just a little bit of blush.

Finally - the lips! M'chel says to choose a dark plum if you want the vampy look.
