25 days of wet: Portland sees 2nd longest streak of rainy days
PORTLAND, Ore. - Even the most seasoned Oregonian has to admit that the start of the winter season has been more soggy than usual.
December 2015 will go down in the books as the wettest on record, and all that rainfall also made for one of the longest streaks of consecutive rainy days.
The 25 days of rain makes for the second longest stretch of days with measurable rainfall. | Latest Forecast
"Christmas was the driest day of the month (until Saturday), but we did technically have some rainfall overnight," KATU Meteorologist Dave Salesky said.
The longest streak is 29 days, which was set back in January of 1950.
A total of 14.7 inches of rain fell from December 1 to Christmas Day, breaking the old monthly total record of 13.35" set back in December of 1996.
We may be seeing a brief dry spell on Saturday, but the precipitation will return on Sunday to bolster the December monthly rainfall record.
