33-year-old SE Hawthorne pasta shop reborn on Sandy Boulevard
PORTLAND, Ore. —
A popular pasta shop that thrived on SE Hawthorne for 33 years re-opened in Northeast Portland.
Pastaworks opened its doors at NE 24th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard Wednesday in a new space featuring several other purveyors offering fresh fish, flowers and baked goods.
"We've been looking on the street and we saw this building and thought, ooh, that's amazing,'" Pastaworks and Providore Fine Foods co-owner Kaie Wellman said. "It would be a great east-west-north-south central area for people to get to us with a nice parking lot. The building seemed like it had beautiful bones and wasn't being used. And it looked like a good home for us."
The old Pastaworks space on Hawthorne was purchased by Powell's.
