PORTLAND, Ore. – The 5th Avenue Building in downtown Portland is back open Wednesday more than a week after a damaged exterior wall prompted an evacuation.

Portland Fire & Rescue said the office building was evacuated on April 11 over concerns of a possible collapse. Some people that worked in the building tell KATU News they heard a large cracking sound, which was likely from the buckling facade.

The company that owns the building say there was no structural damage to the 10-story building.

Contractors are stabilizing the tiles that started to slip. They say they'll take them out to see what caused the break.
