Amazon recalls portable battery chargers after reports of overheating, fire, chemical burn

PORTLAND, Ore. – Amazon is recalling 260,000 of its AmazonBasics portable charges after getting reports that they can overheat and cause burns.

The company announced it would be recalling six models of its portable lithium-ion battery chargers after taking reports that they can overheat and catch fire.

So far they’ve had one report of someone getting chemical burns from battery acid.

The recall involves units sold between December 2014 and July 2017 with the model numbers below:

  • B00LRK8IV0
  • B00LRK8JDC
  • B00ZQ4JQAA

Anyone who has one of the power banks is asked to stop using it and contact Amazon for information on getting a full refund.
