Bomb scare over at Clackamas Town Center

Everything is back to normal at the Clackamas Town Center shopping mall Friday afternoon after a bomb scare.

Police investigated a suspicious object found in a garbage can outside the Century movie theater. They said it was not dangerous. However, they are still investigating why it was placed there.

Police have not said what the object is and said in a news release, "There have been no conclusions at this time as to the nature of the item."

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says a citizen found the suspicious object and notified store security that in turn notified police.

Some shoppers told KATU that they couldn't leave the mall for about a half hour and that one told them what was going on.

Sheriff's deputies said only one portion of the mall was closed and people could still leave through other exits.

TriMet service was disrupted for a short time during the police investigation.
