Boy, 5, hit by vehicle in Longview

LONGVIEW, Wash. - A five-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a vehicle in Longview Saturday evening.

Firefighters said they found the boy lying in the middle of Dorothy Avenue near Maple Street with his father by his side. A vehicle traveling at around 20 mph hit him just before 6 p.m., firefighters said.

The boy was conscious, but had "serious injuries to his head and lower extremities," according to firefighters. The boy was taken to a hospital. His name has not been released.

Police are investigating the crash. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
