Boy, 8, dies one week after Hwy 30 crash near Clatskanie

CLATSKANIE, Ore. State police said a man was killed and seven people including four children were injured in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon on Highway 30 west of Clatskanie.

Troopers said Lucas Brown of Longview, Wash. was driving a Volkswagen Jetta when it crossed the center line on a curve and collided head-on with a Mini Cooper driven by Kimberly Sultan of Astoria.

Brown was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland where he died. His 8-year-old son, Noah Waite-Brown, died one week after the crash in a hospital.

Lucas Brown's other son, 7-year-old Kane Brown, is expected to survive.

Firefighters had to cut open the Mini Cooper to get to Sultan and her passengers. Sultan was critically injured, police said. Her passengers were expected to survive.

It's unclear what caused the crash.
