Crews battle SE Portland house fire in windy conditions
PORTLAND, Ore. - Firefighters put out a house fire in Southeast Portland Friday morning.
No one was hurt.
Crews responded to a fire at 1520 SE 152nd Ave. just before 9 a.m., according to Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman Ron Rouse. Firefighters saw flames coming from the garage and the roof when they arrived.
Strong winds were causing the fire to quickly spread outside of the home, Rouse said.
Firefighters said they had to deal a broken gas line and acetylene tanks inside the garage. Acetylene gas is used in cutting torches, and the tanks are sensitive to pressure, temperature and sparks, according to Rouse.
Crews opened the home's roof to extinguish the fire.
The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation, Rouse said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
