Crews put out fire in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Firefighters put out a one-alarm fire at a vacant house near NE 109th and Fremont on Monday morning.

Though the house was technically unoccupied, it might have been home to some transients.

Firefighters found the one-alarm fire to be bigger than expected. They were forced to pull out their initial crews and evacuate some neighboring houses.

Further complicating matters were low-hanging power lines surrounding the house.

The call came in at 5:13 a.m. Investigators are on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.
