Deputies find 6 pounds of meth after traffic stop on I-205
PORTLAND, Ore. – Investigators found six pounds of meth hidden inside the frame of an SUV on Friday after a traffic stop on Interstate 205, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies pulled over the driver, 24-year-old Ruben Corranza, for a traffic violation. While investigating the violation, they found 82 Xanax tablets in a plastic baggie, about a pound of meth, and a .45 caliber handgun.
Corranza and his passenger, 23-year-old Domingo Lopez-Carranza, were both booked into the Multnomah County Jail on possession of a controlled substance.
Law enforcement impounded the SUV while the Portland Police Bureau Drugs and Vice Division and sheriff's office Special Investigations Unit applied for a search warrant.
After getting the warrant, they found another six pounds of meth in hidden compartments.
Police say the drugs had a street value of about $180,000.
