Deputies investigating after little girl reports attempted abduction in Molalla
MOLALLA, Ore. - Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies are investigating after a little girl said a man tried to abduct her Saturday night near Molalla.
The 10-year-old said she was pushing her bike home from a friend's house when she saw a man in the bushes who appeared to be touching himself.
She told deputies the man began chasing her, so she jumped on her bike and rode off. She said the man grabbed her foot, but she was able to get away and report what happened.
"I'm very lucky I got away because if he had gotten my leg I know that I would not be here right now," said the girl who asked we not use her name.
Now her mother is hoping he's caught soon so her daughter can stop worrying so much.
"This gentleman, I have other words for him, has taken away something very precious from her. He's taken her childhood away. Her ability to be outside and be a kid just be a normal kid," said Kathleen Rodgerson, the girl's mother.
It happened near Molalla at Acer Lane and Rosewood Way.
The girl said the man was Hispanic with a big mustache, and was between 40 and 50 years old. He was wearing jeans, boots and a dark baseball hat.
Deputies believe he's associated with an older red van that's been seen in the area.
