Dive team pulls pickup out of Columbia River after its brakes fail at boat launch
PORTLAND, Ore. – A sheriff’s dive team pulled a pickup out of the Columbia River on Saturday after it rolled backward while launching a boat at the Gleason Boat Ramp.
No one was injured in the incident, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were called out to the boat ramp off Marine Drive about 10:45 a.m. on reports of a submerged vehicle.
Investigators later found that the pickup’s brakes failed, causing it to roll back into the river.
