Stranded dog in Ecola State Park located using drone, high-angle rescue team
ECOLA STATE PARK, Ore. —
A drone and a special high-angle rescue team were used to help locate a lost dog, who had gone missing in Ecola State Park on Christmas Day.
Felix, a border collie, was on a hike with his owners Monday, when he went missing, possibly over a cliff at Indian Beach.
Cannon Beach Police officers, along with OSP troopers, searched for the dog all day without any luck.
Tuesday morning, Fire Chief Matt Verley from Hamlet Fire along with Cannon Beach Fire Chief Matt Benedict went up to Tillamook Head and launched a drone to help search for the dog.
They quickly spotted Felix about 80 feet down a cliff, alive and moving around. The county's high-angle rescue team was deployed, and they managed to rescue Felix and safely return him to his owners.
