Downed trees created commuting nightmare on Hwy 43

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - Trees toppled only Highway 43 between Lake Oswego and Portland on Wednesday morning creating a traffic nightmare for commuters along the busy corridor.

The Oregon Department of Transportation closed the road before 5:45 a.m. and re-opened it around 9 a.m. It was shut down between the Sellwood Bridge on the north end and Palatine Hill Road on the south end.

Southbound traffic was being turned around at Macadam and Taylors Ferry Road. Northbound traffic was being turned around in Lake Oswego.

Taylors Ferry Road up to Terwilliger was also closed.
