Escaped prisoner spotted in Willamette Valley
MILL CITY, Ore. - An inmate who climbed the razor-wire fence at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution last Sunday has been spotted in the Mill City area in the Willamette Valley, the Department of Corrections said.
Several witnesses in the Mill City area have reported seeing escaped inmate Clinton Orvill Swearingen II in the last 24 hours, the agency said Friday.
A resident reported seeing him driving a small red truck around 4 a.m.
Swearingen was sentenced to prison out of Linn County. He entered state prison custody on Feb. 4, 2014, on one count of theft in the first degree, two counts of burglary in the second degree, and two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Linn County.
His earliest release date is Dec. 10, 2017.
Swearingen is a 31-year-old male, 5-foot-6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information regarding Swearingen's whereabouts is asked to call Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888.
Prison staff at Deer Ridge in Madras discovered Swearingen missing during the 10:15 p.m. count time, Sunday, May 4.
Video footage shows that Swearingen climbed the razor-wire fence at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Department of Corrections said.
