FAA says two planes hit by laser pointer
PORTLAND, Ore. —
The Federal Aviation Administration says two local planes were hit with a laser pointer Sunday night.
The first one involved a private jet, a Falcon FA 50. The pilot says he saw a green laser light about 30 miles south of Portland International Airport.
The second strike happened a few hours later when the pilot of a Cessna 172 waiting to land saw a green laser light in the cockpit.
No one was injured. The FAA considers pointing laser pointers at planes a serious hazard.
