Fire damages Hale's Restaurant in Milwaukie
MILWAUKIE, Ore. – Emergency personnel rushed to a commercial fire at a Milwaukie restaurant early Tuesday morning.
A Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputy, who was driving by 17305 Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard, noticed fire coming from the roof at the back of Hale’s Restaurant just before 2:30 a.m.
Firefighters responded and forced the back door open to battle the smoke and flames. A truck company made its way to the roof to ventilate the structure and control the attic fire.
Other crews searched the structure and pulled the ceiling so they could control the fire in the attic.
The fire was under control at 2:59 p.m.
Firefighters contained the fire damage to the kitchen. The dining area received smoke damage.
The owner of Hale’s Restaurant said it will be closed Tuesday because of the damage. Most of the damage is in the kitchen.
There’s no word on when the restaurant will reopen or what caused the fire.
No one was injured.
Hale's Restaurant opened in Hillsboro in 1971 and the Milwaukie restaurant opened in 1993.
