Fire hits a house, garage and five cars in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Crews had to work aggressively to put out a fire that affected a house, a garage and five cars early Saturday morning in Portland.

Police got a call around 1 a.m. that there was a house on fire at 945 N.W. Joy Ave. A resident got home and found the house and two cars on fire, and tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher and garden hose.

When fire crews arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the house, cars and garage and confirmed nobody was inside.

One man was sent to the hospital with burns on his arms and hands.

Two adults and a child were displaced by the fire.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and how much damage it caused.
