Firefighter injured at the scene of SE Portland house fire

PORTLAND, Ore. – A firefighter was hurt Saturday while working to put out a duplex fire in Southeast Portland.

The firefighter stepped into a hole and rolled his ankle while carrying a hose to the fire, officials said.

The fire was first reported about 12:45 p.m. at a duplex near the intersection of SE 87th Avenue and Insley Street.

According to officials, the flames started outside the home and moved into the attic. Crews managed to extinguish the fire, they are now mopping up any remaining hot spots.

Two people were displaced by the fire.
