FOREST GROVE, Ore. - At least one person was seriously injured and three others were hurt when an SUV on crashed into a motor home on Highway 47 north of Forest Grove Saturday afternoon.
State police said Bryan Bartholomew was driving a Jeep Cherokee north on Highway 47 when he didn't see that traffic ahead of him had stopped. He braked hard and swerved into the southbound lane where he crashed into a motor home towing a minivan, police said. The impact forced the Cherokee off the road, where it rolled into a tree. The motor home came to rest on top of the SUV.
Bartholomew was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a Portland hospital. He is expected to survive. There were no passengers in the SUV, according to Forest Grove Fire spokesman Dave Niemeyer.
Police cited Bartholomew for following too close and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Three people were in the motor home. A 2-year-old boy who was asleep when the crash occurred was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not serious, Niemeyer said. His parents rode with him to a hospital in an ambulance.
