High School students demonstrate in Salem for Dream Act
SALEM, Ore. —
Dozens of high school students made their voices heard Wednesday at the Oregon State Capitol.
They protested in favor of a new Dream Act. This is an executive order signed by President Barack Obama in 2012 that protects young people brought to this country by their parents without legal documentation from being deported.
But in September, President Donald Trump announced he's scrapping the policy if Congress doesn't pass it into law.
The president gave Congress six months to act. The deadline to do something is March 5.
