Hillsboro police K-9 getting protective vest from non-profit organization
HILLSBORO, Ore. – A Hillsboro police K-9 is about to be a lot safer on the job now that he’s getting a bullet and stab protective vest.
K-9 Billy is getting a new vest thanks to the non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. It should arrive in Hillsboro within eight to 10 weeks.
The vest will be embroidered to say, “In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department.”
Billy, a 4-year-old Belgium Malinois, came to the Hillsboro Police Department from the Netherlands two years ago. He’s a certified patrol dog and he works with officer Cory Zaugg.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is based out of East Taunton, Mass. Their mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests to law enforcement dogs throughout the United States.
