Hood River neighborhoods to lose power as crews fight wildfire

HOOD RIVER, Ore. - Crews will be shutting off power lines running along a two-and-a-half acre wildfire that is burning in the Indian Creek Canyon southeast of Hood River.

The power lines were posing a threat to the ground crews and a helicopter team working to put out the flames burning in the steep brush below the Indian Creek Trail, according to Hood River Fire & EMS.

Officials aren't sure how many homes will lose power when the supply lines are turned off.

Indian Creek Trail is closed between Hazel Avenue and 12th Street so Hood River Fire & EMS crews can access the fire.

The fire is sending up heavy smoke in the East Hazel area. People living close to the wildfire should watch out for emergency vehicles moving through the area.

Firefighters are in place for structural protection, and wildland fire agencies are helping put out the flames.
