Hunter who died after tree fell on him Friday identified as Hillsboro firefighter
HEPPNER, Ore. —
The identity has been released of a 31-year-old Hillsboro man who died Friday in the mountains of Morrow County after a tree fell on him.
The man is Ryan Grimaldi, who had been with the fire department as a firefighter/paramedic for six years.
To honor their fellow firefighter, members of the Hillsboro Fire Department will be traveling to the town of Heppner on Sunday to escort his body back to Tualatin. Additionally, members are wearing mourning bands over their badges through the day of his memorial service.
Operation Chief Scott Magers said, "Ryan was an outstanding firefighter and member of the Hillsboro Fire Department family. Ryan served the department and the community well. He will be greatly missed."
Funeral services are pending at this time.
