Hwy. 99 shut down for hours after threats, assaults against family, police say
AMITY, Ore. - Highway 99 was shut down in Amity for several hours on Wednesday afternoon for what police said was an investigation involving multiple threats and assaults against a family who lives along the road there.
Details about the incident were vague.
Police said they got word of an incident at the home around 1 p.m. that might have left somebody seriously injured.
They said they were told a man approached somebody in the family and tried to grab them, and that the suspect was badly injured and ran off. He got in an SUV with a man and a white female and drove off.
Police said the man likely has a serious injury to his lower left abdomen. They're looking for a Hispanic man in his early 20s who is about 5-foot-5 and has a dragon tattoo on his left forearm. He was in a 1990s red or maroon SUV, possibly a Chevy Blazer.
Police said the threat was to a specific person, and the community is probably not in danger.
