Injured Portland dancer's condition improves after Texas crash
AMARILLO, Texas (AP) Hospital officials say a member of a popular summer musical production from Portland who was injured in a Texas Panhandle car accident in which five people died last week is improving.
The Amarillo Globe-News reports that 30-year-old Timothy Johnson is now in satisfactory condition, according to Northwest Texas Hospital spokeswoman Caytie Martin.
After leaving an end-of-summer party, five cast and crew members of the musical "Texas" died when their car ran a stop sign at the intersection of a rural road and a U.S. highway and was hit by a tractor trailer north of Dumas, Texas. Johnson was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital along with the truck driver, who was released this week.
Authorities say alcoholic beverage containers were found inside the car.
